Ben Folds and Nick Hornby appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night on NBC stations across the US, with Folds performing the song "Saskia Hamilton," off the new Nonesuch album Lonely Avenue, for which Folds wrote the music and Hornby wrote the words. You can watch the complete episode below, via Hulu. Be sure to listen for fellow guest Pee-Wee Herman's Word of the Day, "baseball."

The Late Night set marked the final event in a week of New York City appearances from the two artists, which also included a benefit at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, a free performance/conversation/signing at the city's flagship Barnes & Nobles in Union Square, and a spot on WNYC's Soundcheck.

The next joint appearance from Folds and Hornby comes Tuesday at the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue in Washington, DC, a PEN/Faulkner event at which Hornby will read from his latest novel, Juliet, Naked, just out in paperback, and Folds will perform songs from Lonely Avenue. Next month, Folds launches his own tour of the United States with more than a dozen stops across the way, culminating in a benefit event for and with the Nashville Symphony titled Keys to Music City. For more tour information, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

Following that tour, Folds returns to Washington, DC, on December 3, to participate in a special presentation at National Geographic headquarters. As part of the National Geographic Live! series Music on ... Photography, Folds will discuss photos he took of the flooded streets of Nashville with his camera (and camera phone) to help spread the word of the devastation; photographer Mark Seliger will moderate.

Folds recently appeared on National Geographic Weekend to speak with host Boyd Matson about these photos and what prompted him to take them. To listen to the interview and find out more about the Music on ... Photography event at nationalgeographic.com.
