Congratulations to Patricia Arquette, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Boyhood at the 87th Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood last night, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. In Richard Linklater's groundbreaking film, Arquette plays the mother of a child named Mason, who literally grows up on screen over the 12 years the film was shot.

"To every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation," she said in her memorable acceptance speech, "we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s time to have wage equality once and for all. And equal rights for women in the United States of America."

Just the night before, Arquette had won the award for Best Supporting Actress at the 30th Film Independent Spirit Awards, broadcast live from Santa Monica on IFC Saturday night. Richard Linklater won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Director.

Paul Thomas Anderson's film Inherent Vice, his adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon novel, received the Robert Altman Award, given to one film’s director, casting director, and ensemble cast. The Altman Award was created in 2008 in honor of legendary director Robert Altman who was known for creating extraordinary ensemble casts.

The soundtracks to both films are available now on Nonesuch Records. To get them now, head to iTunes or the Nonesuch Store, where orders include a download of the complete album at checkout. The vinyl edition of the Inherent Vice soundtrack, featuring music by Jonny Greenwood, is due March 3 and is available to pre-order now.
