Brad Mehldau's "After Bach" Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard Jazz Albums, No. 3 on Classical Albums Charts

Congratulations to Brad Mehldau, whose new solo album, After Bach, debuted simultaneously at No. 1 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart, his highest career position on that chart, and at No. 3 on the Billboard Classical Albums chart! Another career high: the album debuted at No. 2 on the UK Jazz/Blues chart as well. Mehldau's previous release, the 2017 self-titled duo album with mandolinist and label mate Chris Thile, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart.

After Bach comprises the pianist/composer's recordings of four preludes and one fugue from J.S. Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, each followed by an After Bach piece written by Mehldau and inspired by its WTC mate. The album begins with Mehldau's own "Before Bach: Benediction" and ends with his "Prayer for Healing."

To pick up a copy of After Bach, head to your local music store, iTunes, Amazon, and the Nonesuch Store, where CD orders include a download of the complete album at checkout. You can also listen to the album on Spotify and Apple Music.

Vagabon (aka Lætitia Tamko) has released a video for "Every Woman," a new song from her upcoming album, directed by Lino Asana and filmed on location in Mendocino County, CA. You can watch it here. "'Every Woman' is the thesis of my album," she says, "so I wanted the visuals to represent transparency and to create a world for this thesis statement to live inside of. It's an ode to all those who feel different and who actively search and fight for space." Vagabon begins a fall tour this week.
