To mark the longest day of the year, the summer solstice, Hurray for the Riff Raff (aka Alynda Segarra) releases a video for the title track to their critically acclaimed Nonesuch debut, LIFE ON EARTH, today, June 21, 2022. The video, which you can watch below, is directed and edited by Segarra, who also publishes the accompanying poem, "i always thought time was a circle turns out i was wrong." You can read that here.

LIFE ON EARTH, Hurray for the Riff Raff's Nonesuch debut album, released earlier this year, is a departure for the New Orleans-based Segarra. Its eleven new “nature punk” tracks on the theme of survival are music for a world in flux—songs about thriving, not just surviving, while disaster is happening. For their eighth full-length album, Segarra drew inspiration from The Clash, Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Bad Bunny, and the author of Emergent Strategy, adrienne maree brown. Recorded during the pandemic, Life on Earth was produced by Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Bon Iver, Kevin Morby). You can get it and hear it here.

Hurray for the Riff Raff continues their tour of North America, headlining tonight at Harlow’s in Sacramento, before continuing as special guest of Bright Eyes with dates in San Diego, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Denver, and Kansas City, Missouri, concluding with a performance in Omaha, Nebraska on July 3. Segarra tours Europe this summer, with stops in Paris and Amsterdam, among others. You can see all the currently scheduled dates below; for all the latest, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.
