Grammy and Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla begins a monthlong European tour featuring music from his beloved and critically acclaimed 1998 Nonesuch album Ronroco at Le Bataclan in Paris this Sunday. The tour continues with shows in Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Portugal, UK, and Sweden. See below for details and tickets or visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

Ronroco was release on vinyl for the first time in a newly remastered edition, also available digitally, in 2024. The singer, composer, and producer's classic album—which takes its name from a South American stringed instrument—comprises twelve original tunes inspired by traditional Argentinean music and influenced by music of Japan, Africa, and Eastern Europe. "Ronroco conjures bucolic images and feelings for me,” filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu writes in the new liner note. "There’s always a note that surprises, breaks the pattern of the rainstorm, turning into silence, a gentle drizzle, or escalating into a tempest." You can get the album and hear it here.

Composer Sarah Kirkland Snider’s fifth full-length LP, a new, all-orchestral album Forward Into Light, produced by Silas Brown and recorded by Metropolis Ensemble led by artistic director/conductor Andrew Cyr, is due February 27 on New Amsterdam / Nonesuch Records. It features Forward Into Light, inspired by the American women’s suffrage movement; the string orchestra and harp (Noël Wan) version of Drink the Wild Ayre; Eye of Mnemosyne, a work on memory, innovation, and culture; and Something for the Dark, a meditation on resilience. Snider says: “I chose to create an album of these four works because they share themes of perseverance, alliance, and evolution through dark and light—concepts that have been at the forefront of my mind in recent years."
