Composer Donnacha Dennehy was on WNYC's New Sounds over the holidays to talk with host John Schaefer about his piece Land of Winter, which explores the subtleties of Ireland’s seasons via twelve connected sections representing the months of the year. Its recording, released on Nonesuch, has been nominated for two GRAMMY Awards this year: Best Contemporary Classical Composition for Dennehy and Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance for the composer's longtime collaborators Alarm Will Sound and conductor Alan Pierson.
