Listen: Vagabon Releases "Water Me Down," New Song from Forthcoming Album
    Tonje Thilesen

Vagabon (aka Lætitia Tamko) has shared "Water Me Down," the latest track from her self-titled sophomore album, due October 18 via Nonesuch Records, with the vinyl to follow later this fall. Pre-order Vagabon now to download the new track and the previously released song "Flood" here; Nonesuch Store pre-orders include an exclusive print autographed by Tamko.

Of the song, Tamko says "I wrote 'Water Me Down' in a stream of consciousness way in the few minutes following a frustrating phone call with someone. Coincidentally, I was at my friend Eric Litmann's house who has a recording setup in his bedroom. I sat on his bed on a winter NYC night with a standard 58 mic up close to my face, and laid down the bulk of this song that night. We then went in and collaborated on the different textures... I tackled drums, arrangement, melodies and production. Eric played the synths and handled co-production. My intention with 'Water Me Down' was to create a playground in which to explore difficult feelings with confidence, triumph and foresight."

Earlier this summer Vagabon announced the album with the release of lead single "Flood," which Vulture called "the most pop-forward song we've ever heard from Vagabon, yet it doesn't sound out of her element at all," adding that "Lætitia Tamko is shifting the music landscape as we know it, remember her name and follow her lead now." NPR said "nothing sounds quite like Vagabon," while Pitchfork proclaimed "Lætitia Tamko writes poignant songs about the galaxies within her heart." The New York Times hailed it as "a processional that circles ceaselessly through four chords, with their dense timbres changing but their cycle only interrupted, now and then, by a booming drum sound."

Vagabon will tour this fall, includes headlining shows in New York, Los Angeles, London, Brussels, Berlin and Paris and a run supporting Angel Olsen. For details and tickets, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

Composer and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Parker's Suite for Max Brown is out now via a newly formed partnership between International Anthem and Nonesuch Records. The album, named for and dedicated to Parker's mother, features nine original songs as well as "Gnarciss," an interpretation of Joe Henderson's "Black Narcissus," and John Coltrane's "After the Rain." Parker plays the majority of the instruments on the record. "The veteran guitarist has created an effortlessly detailed album, full of tradition and experimentation that spans generations," says Pitchfork. "It lives at the vanguard of new jazz music."

Early James premiered the music video for “It Doesn't Matter Now,” a new song off his upcoming debut album, Singing for My Supper, via Billboard. "The subject matter for this song is pretty heavy," says director Tim Hardiman. "I felt there needed to be some aggression on screen but didn't want it to play out like a typical break up. For some reason, Sideshow Bennie, whom I worked with several years ago, popped in my head. I looked him up and learned he was now working with a sidekick, Anna Fiametta. When I read how they met, I thought it was a funny story that would fit the song." You can watch the video here.
