Grammy Award–winning singer, songwriter, and guitarist Molly Tuttle, who has just been nominated for Grammy Awards for Best Americana Album for her critically acclaimed album So Long Little Miss Sunshine and Best Americana Performance for the album track “That’s Gonna Leave A Mark,” has announced a new tour for February: Molly x Marty: Guitars on Fire—The Cosmic Twang Tour, featuring the Molly Tuttle Trio with Marty Stuart & His Famous Superlatives live in concert in Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.
Country Music Hall of Famer and torchbearer of twang Marty Stuart joins Tuttle for a co-headline performance bridging decades of roots music. Stuart’s legacy of honky-tonk, rockabilly, and cosmic country fusion with his band The Fabulous Superlatives intertwines with Tuttle and her Trio’s visionary songwriting, virtuosic guitar work, and boundary-pushing bluegrass. The show promises blazing instrumentation, shimmering harmonies, and two compelling voices sharing one stage for a transcendent musical journey. Tickets will be available from Friday, November 14 at 10am local time. See below for details; for all the latest, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.
Tuttle and her powerhouse live band have been crisscrossing North America on “The Highway Knows Tour,” supporting the Grammy-nominated So Long Little Miss Sunshine. The run concludes December 13 in San Francisco, with a stop at The Fonda in Los Angeles just before, on December 11.
So Long Little Miss Sunshine, recorded in Nashville with producer Jay Joyce, marks a sonic departure from her recent work. The album of eleven originals and one cover (Icona Pop and Charli xcx’s “I Love It”) is a hybrid of pop, country, rock, and flat-picking, plus a murder ballad. Her virtuoso guitar work takes center stage on this album more than ever, and for the first time, she introduces her banjo playing into two of her recordings. You can get it and hear it here.
Last week, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway shared a holiday single, a cover of The Pogues' classic “Fairytale of New York" featuring Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show. You can hear it here.
