Laurie Anderson continues her three-event run at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts, in a conversation with acclaimed director Peter Sellars in Linde Center for Music and Learning's Studio E on Saturday afternoon and a performance with the jazz band Sexmob of Republic of Love in Seiji Ozawa Hall on Sunday. This follows her performance of Amelia, about renowned female aviator Amelia Earhart’s tragic last flight, and the world premiere of What War Is This? with members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and conductor Dennis Russell Davies at Ozawa Hall last night. Anderson's latest release is Let X=X, a triple-LP / double-CD set of songs recorded live during a 2023 tour with Sexmob. Amelia is her previous album, from 2024, recorded with Davies and Filharmonie Brno.

Rhiannon Giddens joins multi-instrumentalist Francesco Turrisi, Congolese guitar virtuoso Niwel Tsumbu, and hand drummer Éamonn Cagney for a performance at Set Theatre in Kilkenny, Ireland, tonight as part of the Kilkenny Arts Festival, at which composer Donnacha Dennehy's music was featured last weekend. Giddens shared “Freight Train,” a spare interpretation of the song by North Carolina music legend Elizabeth Cotten, from her upcoming album, Hope Is the Thing with Feathers, earlier this week; you can hear it here.

Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians gets its New Zealand premiere—50 years after its world premiere this past April—in a performance by students from the University of Canterbury School of Music and Voices New Zealand Chamber Choir at The Piano in Christchurch on Saturday. Meanwhile in Switzerland, his New York Counterpoint is performed by soloists of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra and the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra led by Riccardo Chailly at the KKL Luzern Concert Hall on Saturday as part of the Lucerne Festival.

Cécile McLorin Salvant's five-night curation residency at The Amph at Little Island in New York City continues through Sunday with Salvant herself taking the stage on Saturday and Sunday nights. She is joined for the celebration of Tiny Pan Alley by pianist Sullivan Fortner on Saturday and by Fortner, drummer Kyle Poole, and bassist Paul Sikivie on Sunday. Salvant's first orchestral album, With Every Breath I Take, was released in June.
