This Juneteenth weekend, Rhiannon Giddens and Silkroad Ensemble, of which she is artistic director, give a free concert at Guthrie Green in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday. The program, Sanctuary: The Power of Resonance and Ritual, takes place in connection with “Of the People: The Smithsonian Festival of Festivals,” a series of programs and exchanges marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. Giddens then heads to New York City to take the stage in The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium for Zuba Zinga Jubilee, acelebration of Peter Szego’s gift of 19th century banjos to the Met Collection, on Sunday and Monday. She is joined by pianist Francesco Turrisi, guitarist Niwel Tsumbu, multi-instrumentalist Rowan Corbett, and banjo/fiddle player Jake Blount to reimagine early banjo tunes from across cultures.

Nearby in New York City this weekend are saxophonist and flutist Henry Threadgill, pianist Vijay Iyer, and drummer Dafnis Prieto, who reunite at The Jazz Gallery to perform on Friday and Saturday. The collective trio’s first album, Fifteen, will be released on August 21 on Nonesuch. The record takes its name from the number of years the trio has been performing together—first at a series of benefits for The Jazz Gallery, and then around the US and internationally. Continuing a longstanding tradition, Chris Thile and Punch Brothers return to Telluride, Colorado, this summer solstice weekend for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Thile performs solo today and joins Punch Brothers on Saturday afternoon. Punch Brothers also play a sold-out show as part of the festival’s Nightgrass series at Sheridan Opera House on Sunday night. The band continues its Unsung North American Expedition tour next week and its new instrumental album, The Unsung Adventures of Punch Brothers, comes out July 24.

Robert Plant and Saving Grace—singer Suzi Dian, drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo and string player Matt Worley, and cellist Barney Morse-Brown—play two sold-out shows at Saint Michaels Fortress in Sibenik, Croatia, on Saturday and Sunday. Plant and the band recently announced their return to the US this fall in celebration of their acclaimed album, Saving Grace.

Cécile McLorin Salvant is at Baccus Landing in Healdsburg, California, as part of the Healdsburg Jazz Festival on Sunday. Salvant was recently awarded an honorary doctorate of music from Williams College, where she delivered a speech to the 2026 graduates. Her debut orchestral album, With Every Breath I Take, is out next week.
