Flea and the Honora Band—saxophonist Josh Johnson, guitarist Jeff Parker, bassist Anna Butterss, and drummer Deantoni Parks—kicked off their tour in support of Flea’s debut solo album, Honora, in Chicago last night and continue this weekend with performances at The Opera House in Toronto on Saturday, and Théâtre Beanfield in Montreal on Sunday. Their sold-out international tour continues through May, including select dates in New York City, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Berlin, Amsterdam, Antwerp, London, and Paris. All of the artists in the band perform on the album, which Johnson also produced.

Rhiannon Giddens & The Old-Time Revue—featuring Justin Robinson and four other string musicians—perform in Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium in New York City tonight as part of the celebrated venue’s United in Sound America at 250 series. Giddens and Robinson’s What Did the Blackbird Say to the Crow, an album of North Carolina fiddle and banjo music, was released last year. Guitarist Mary Halvorson and her band Canis Major perform at Recreios de Amadora in Amadora, Portugal, tonight, and Perronnord in St. Gallen, Switzerland, on Sunday. The Jazz Journalists Association has nominated Halvorson for five JJA Jazz Awards: Jazz Musician of the Year, Composer of the Year, Guitarist of the Year, Midsize Ensemble of the Year (Amaryllis), and Duo of the Year (with Sylvie Courvoisier). Her new album with trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire, Slo-Mo Neon Luminate Hoverings, is due June 12; listen to the just-released album track “Blood & Sand” here.

Brad Mehldau and fellow pianist Kirill Gerstein are in conversation at Koerner Hall in Toronto tonight. Mehldau then joins bassist Felix Moseholm and drummer Jorge Rossy for a performance at the University of Iowa’s Hancher Auditorium in Iowa City on Sunday.

Natalie Merchant is joined by members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for two performances of Mother Goose & the Cabinet of Wonder at the Chicago Symphony Center on Saturday morning and afternoon. The program features traditional nursery rhymes adapted by Merchant and orchestrated for an array of instrumental groups.

Shara Nova joins the National Philharmonic, conducted by Deanna Tham, in a performance of The Blue Hour—a song cycle composed by Nova, Rachel Grimes, Angélica Negrón, Caroline Shaw, and Sarah Kirkland Snider featuring excerpts from Carolyn Forché’s epic poem On Earth—at The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland, on Saturday. The piece is also performed by Intersection and Timbre Cierpke, conducted by Kelly Corcoran at Analog at Hutton Hotel in Nashville on Saturday. Vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire join pianist Sullivan Fortner at Chenery Auditorium in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Sunday for the finale of the 2026 Gilmore International Piano Festival. Salvant’s new album, With Every Breath I Take, her first with orchestra, featuring The Netherlands’ Metropole Orkest conducted by Jules Buckley, is due June 26. You can listen to the title track, written by Cy Coleman and David Zippel, here. Salvant, Akinmusire, and Fortner have all been nominated for multiple JJA Jazz Awards.

Robert Plant and Saving Grace kick off their South American tour in support of their album Saving Grace, at Teatro Gran Rex in Buenos Aires, on Sunday. The band continues their tour through Argentina and Brazil, before heading to Europe in June. Plant and Saving Grace released a vinyl EP, Saving Grace: All That Glitters…, for Record Store Day last month. You can watch their performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert here.

Molly Tuttle and Maggie Rose are on tour, performing at Stable Hall in San Antonio, Texas, tonight, and Tipitina's in New Orleans on Saturday. "She does integrate her guitar playing incredibly effectively,” says WBUR's Amelia Mason of Tuttle’s So Long Little Miss Sunshine. “The songs are just really good ... it works really well."
