    Kathryn Yu / SPIN

When Ben Folds and Nick Hornby came to New York City last month to celebrate the release of their new collaborative album, Lonely Avenue, on Nonesuch, they met up in the intimate space of the city's Housing Works Bookstore Cafe to discuss the project and have Folds perform a few songs off the album. It was the latest in the "Liner Notes" series presented by SPIN magazine, which aims to explore the cross-pollination of music and literature while raising funds for Housing Works; the Folds/Hornby event raised $10,000 for the HIV/AIDS service organization. You can now watch six exclusive videos from the evening at spin.com.

You'll also be able to listen to the entire event on Sirius XM's Book Radio (Sirius channel 117 / XM channel 163) starting Monday, November 15, at 7 PM ET, with encore broadcasts on November 17, 19, and 20. For more information, visit sirius.com.

Lonely Avenue was recently featured on New York City news channel NY1. The station's man about town George Whipple was at the Housing Works event and spoke with both collaborators backstage about their partnership. You can watch the segment at ny1.com.

The Staves release their first new album in six years, Good Woman, February 5, 2021, on Nonesuch Records in the US. Good Woman was written and recorded in a time of tremendous turmoil and change for the band, between the ending of relationships, the death of their beloved mother, and the birth of Emily’s first child. Mostly self-produced, with John Congleton’s assistance, the album is a testament to the Stavely-Taylors’ strength and that of other women; to sisters, mothers, and daughters; to love, loss, and change; and to trying to be a good woman.
