    k.d. lang and her band the Siss Boom Bang launch their North American tour with a performance in Thunder Bay, Ontario, tonight. lang and the band, which is featured on her latest album, Sing it Loud, released last year on Nonesuch Records, will tour the US and Canada throughout the spring and summer, including a number of newly added dates in Canada this September. For the first leg of the tour, starting with tonight's show, they will be joined by very special guest Jane Siberry.

    k.d. lang has added a number of new dates to her North American spring and summer tour with her band the Siss Boom Bang, which was announced last month. The newly announced dates include additional stops across the United States and into lang's home province of Alberta, as well as a three-night run at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver.The first date on the tour is slated for May 8 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

    k.d. lang has just confirmed a series of new shows in North America this spring and summer with her band the Siss Boom Bang. The band is featured on lang's latest album, Sing it Loud, and joined her on an extensive tour across the globe in support of the record all last year. The first date on the upcoming tour is slated for May 8 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, followed by stops across the Midwest, down South, on the East Coast, and back out West, as well as sets slated for festivals like Spoleto, Telluride, and more.

The Age, reviewing one tour stop, says: "lang's voice remains a marvel." While in Sydney for a sold-out, six-night residency, lang and the band took time out for a special invitation-only live performance and audience Q&A that aired on Channel 7's Sunday Night.     k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang kicked off their three-week tour of Australia outside Perth on Saturday. "From the first long, soaring notes of the night she was in spectacular, pitch-perfect voice," says the West Australian. The Australian says: "To watch k.d. lang is to observe someone doing what they were surely born to do.     Nonesuch Records wishes k.d. lang a very happy 50th birthday today. She and her band the Siss Boom Bang perform in Singapore tonight in advance of their Australia tour featuring music from their new album, Sing it Loud. The two-week tour kicks off in Western Australia this Saturday and includes six nights at Sydney's State Theatre. "It's nice to be able to sing this material because it engages the band," lang tells the West Australian, "and translates to the audience in a really fun way."

    The Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington, Vermont, has announced its 2011–12 season, and on the schedule are four Nonesuch artists: k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang open the venue's concert season on September 23, Laurie Anderson follows with her piece Delusion in October, Cheikh Lô joins a multi-artist celebration of James Brown in November, and the Carolina Chocolate Drops play the Flynn in January.

    k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang kicked off their North American tour at the Rochester Jazz Festival last week, followed by a free outdoor concert at Toronto's Luminato Festival; the tour lands at New York City's Beacon Theatre tonight. The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle says lang's "voice was potent from the get-go." The Toronto Sun gives the Luminato set four-and-a-half stars, calling lang's voice "one of the world’s best." The Independent says lang's new album, Sing it Loud, is "an elegant, understated LP that contains nods to the singer's country-pop roots and brims with warmth and contentment."

    k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang kick off their North American tour at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, New York, tonight for the 2011 Rochester Jazz Festival. "k.d. lang's voice hovers in the twilight somewhere between heartache and desire," says the Rochester City Newspaper, citing her voice's "elastic range, creamy tone, power, and seduction," and calling her "one of the finest crooners of this generation."     k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang brought their UK tour to a close with a performance at Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow, Scotland, last night. The tour included two shows at London's Royal Festival Hall, to which the Guardian gives four stars. "lang is a beaming and ebullient figure tonight," says the Guardian. "k.d. lang's mojo has clearly been firmly relocated." The Evening Standard says "she's discovered how to have a ball, without sacrificing the passion that underpins her work ... How could anyone not fall a little in love?"
