Composer-performer Daniel Wohl, whose album État was released on New Amsterdam and Nonesuch Records in May, has released a video for the album track "Orbit." The generative music video, made by Ben Heim, is driven by sound data extracted from the music, evolving over time with the sonic landscape and can be seen here. Wohl will be the special guest of A Winged Victory for the Sullen on the duo's European tour early next year. The fourteen-concert tour begins in Amsterdam on February 20 and stops in Germany, Belgium, Ireland, and the UK.

The generative music video, made by Ben Heim, is driven by sound data extracted from the music, evolving over time with the sonic landscape and can be seen below. Wohl has announced that he will be the special guest of A Winged Victory for the Sullen on the duo's European tour early next year. The fourteen-concert tour begins at De Duif in Amsterdam on February 20 and stops in Germany, Belgium, Ireland, and the UK, including concerts at Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Round Chapel in London, and Dublin's National Concert Hall. See below for details and tickets or visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

État, featuring electro-acoustic pieces written by Wohl, was recorded with members of yMusic and the Calder Quartet and includes guest performances by Poliça's Channy Leaneagh with co-production by Son Lux's Ryan Lott and mmph. "This is a really beautiful record; love the textures kind of underpinning this one," says NPR's Robin Hilton. His colleague Tom Huizenga concurs: "It's beautiful. I think he's really one of the most imaginative electroacoustic composer-musicians working today." As does NPR's Stephen Thompson, who adds: "These pieces really breathe in such a fascinating way. It's a really easy record to just get completely carried away by."

To pick up a copy of État, head to iTunes, Bandcamp, and the Nonesuch Store, where CD orders include an instant download of the complete album. It can also be heard on Spotify, Apple Music, and other digital service providers.

The original cast album of Adam Guettel’s Broadway musical Days of Wine and Roses, with a book by Craig Lucas, starring Kelli O’Hara and Brian d’Arcy James, will be released on CD on May 17, following its recent digital release.  “Repeated listenings compound the amazement,” the New York Times says of Guettel’s work, which “has always offered that kind of challenge—initially leaving a feeling of: Beautiful, but wait, I need to hear it again—and those up for it have a way of coming away shining like Moses down from the Mount. The new score has the same effect.”
