As part of the celebration of Nonesuch Records' 60th anniversary, we launched Nonesuch Selects, a video series in which artists stop by the Nonesuch office, pick some of their favorites from the music library, and share a few words on their choices. Gabriel Kahane, who resumes his HEXAGONS duo tour with Caroline Shaw after the New Year, stopped by and chose recordings by Ambrose Akinmusire, Punch Brothers, Sam Amidon, Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, Richard Goode & Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Fred Hersch, and his father, Jeffrey Kahane. You can watch it below and subscribe to the Nonesuch Records YouTube channel for all the latest:

This past fall, Gabriel Kahane performed music from his Nonesuch albums Magnificent Bird and Book of Travelers in a staged presentation at Playwrights Horizons in New York City. Book of Travelers recounts the strangers he met on a 9,000-mile train journey through a divided America, and Magnificent Bird chronicles a year he spent entirely off-line, and the unexpected turbulence of living quietly.

You can hear a playlist of music from Gabriel Kahane's Nonesuch Selects on Spotify and Apple Music here. You can watch all of the Nonesuch Selects videos here.

Robert Plant and Saving Grace release a vinyl EP, Saving Grace: All That Glitters..., this Saturday for Record Store Day, the annual celebration of independent record stores. The record follows Plant's recent critically acclaimed album, Saving Grace; both feature singer Suzi Dian and a band of musicians from the English countryside that Plant—this year's Record Store Day Legend—calls home. The EP's four tracks, recently recorded especially for RSD, explore the folk and Americana songs that Plant and the band love: the traditional tunes "The Blackest Crow" and "Two Coats," arranged by Robert Plant and Saving Grace, as well as Gillian Welch's "Orphan Girl" and Bert Jansch's "Poison."
