Molly Tuttle gives a solo performance of "The Highway Knows," the new song from her upcoming album, So Long Little Miss Sunshine, in a new video. You can watch it here:

"It’s one of my favorite songs on the new record," the GRAMMY-winning singer, songwriter, and guitarist says. "I had written the finger-picked guitar part that you hear in the chorus a few years ago, and finally last year, Ketch Secor and I dug up the voice memo of that guitar scrap and wrote words to it. This song is all about finding the person you want to journey through life with. The track came to life once Jay Joyce produced the sprawling guitar solo section that I improvised over midway through, which brought it to a higher peak dynamically. I think this song is reflective of a lot of the album stylistically. We wove together different genres and sounds, and ended up with something that I’m really proud of."

Recorded in Nashville with producer Jay Joyce (Orville Peck, Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson), So Long Little Miss Sunshine, due August 15, marks a sonic departure from her recent work and features twelve new songs—eleven originals and one cover, of Icona Pop and Charli xcx’s “I Love It.” The album is a hybrid of pop, country, rock, and flat-picking, plus a murder ballad. Her virtuoso guitar work takes center stage on this album more than ever, and for the first time, she introduces her banjo playing into two of her recordings. You can pre-order the album here.

She talks with host and American Songwriter Editor-in-Chief Lisa Konickito about her latest album, the twice GRAMMY-nominated So Long Little Miss Sunshine, on which, Konickito says, Tuttle "explores country, rock, and pop; all the while, she's still the amazing guitar player that we know and love."
