(Caroline Shaw's own solo Nonesuch Selects video, featuring music by Rhiannon Giddens, Dawn Upshaw, Gabriel Kahane, Mountain Man, Steve Reich, and Chris Thile, was published last year. You can watch it here.)
Lady on the Bike celebrates the feeling of possibility in myriad forms: the possibility of love; the possibility of creating connection and community in a world trying to pull those things apart; the possibility of making music in new ways. The songs were collaboratively written and recorded by the duo. New Body Electric members Leah Vautar and Aaron K Peterson perform on and help produce several songs; Sō Percussion is featured on a new version of Ringdown’s previously released single “Ghost.” You can pre-order it here.
Ringdown gives an early listen to Lady on the Bike at a special listening party at Soundshop at Club Curious in Brooklyn this Thursday. They head home to Portland, Oregon, to perform at JOINT on May 1, then come back to Brooklyn for Bang on a Can's Long Play Festival on May 3 and four nights with Sō Percussion at BAM. For details on these and more upcoming shows, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.
