Congratulations to the company of Illinoise: A New Musical on its performance on the Tony Awards last night and to the show's director, choreographer, and co-author Justin Peck, who won the Tony for Outstanding Choreography. The cast performed "The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades is Out to Get Us!," from the show, which features music and lyrics by Sufjan Stevens based on his album Illinois, with new arrangements by Timo Andres. The cast of the current four-time Tony Award-nominated Broadway show Illinoise: A New Musical was on CBS's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform "Jacksonville" from the show and the just-released original cast recording. The choreography and tap dance choreography are by the show's director, choreographer, and co-author Justin Peck, with tap dance improvisations by Byron Tittle; music and lyrics are by Sufjan Stevens based on his album Illinois. Sanneh talks with Peck, the show's director, choreographer, and book co-writer; playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury, who co-wrote the book; and Shara Nova (aka My Brightest Diamond), who performs on the original Sufjan Stevens album Illinois on which the show is based and the just-released original cast album. The Black Keys were on BBC Two's Later... with Jools Holland to perform two songs from their new album, Ohio Players: "Beautiful People (Stay High)" and "On the Game." Rachael & Vilray are on the latest episode of the PBS series Poetry in America, focused on Frank O'Hara's "Steps," from his Lunch Poems. They join host Elisa New, choreographer Mark Morris, and poets Terrance Hayes, Robert Pinsky, Todd Colby, and Eileen Myles to read and discuss the poem, an ode to New York City art and dance. Hurray for the Riff Raff (aka Alynda Segarra) returned to CBS Saturday Morning to perform a Saturday Sessions set of three songs from their new album, The Past Is Still Alive: "Alibi," "Hawkmoon," and "Buffalo." You can watch all three performances here.

Ahead of their concerts in Germany this weekend, Rhiannon Giddens and her band were on ARD-Morgenmagazin, the morning show of ARD's flagship television channel, Das Erste, to perform "Yet to Be," a song from her new album, You're the One. "Rhiannon Giddens is a musical exception: trained opera singer, composer, vocalist, virtuoso on the banjo and many other instruments," says the show.
