Reuters: Thomas Newman "Has Produced Some of the Most Memorable Film Music of the Past 20 Years"
Thomas Newman is the subject of an article from Reuters and the Hollywood Reporter that traces his career in music, from his early ambivalence about following in his famous father's footsteps to his becoming an acclaimed composer in his own right, with scores to films like Revolutionary Road and HBO's Angels in America. Thomas Newman's "Revolutionary Road" Score Wins Classical BRIT Award for Soundtrack of the Year
Congratulations to Thomas Newman, winner of the 2010 Classical BRIT Award for Soundtrack of the Year for his score to the film Revolutionary Road. Newman was in attendance to receive the award at the ceremony at Royal Albert Hall in London.
About this Album
Director Sam Mendes' film version of the classic, 1961 Richard Yates novel, starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, features a beautifully evocative score by Thomas Newman described by the Irish Times as "quintessential Newman—smart, moving and cool," along with three timeless tunes from the era by The Ravens, The Orioles, and The Ink Spots.
