Laurie Anderson gives a free presentation of Lou Reed's Drones at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, DC, this afternoon. Anderson and special guests will perform live throughout the afternoon alongside an installation of guitars from her late husband’s collection that will be curated by Reed’s former guitar technician Stewart Hurwood. Reed’s instruments are arranged with a group of amplifiers to create an enveloping drone of harmonics that shifts as the sound waves and the audience move through the space.

Today’s event is part of a selection of free public programs the Hirshhorn is presenting in conjunction with Laurie Anderson: The Weather, the largest-ever US exhibition of Laurie Anderson's artwork, on view through July 31.

---

Devendra Banhart performs with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Saturday as part of the multi-artist Canto en resistencia: Power to the People! event. The concert celebrates iconic protest music from Latin America and the US, ranging from the pro-democracy and workers’ rights Nueva cancion, tropicalismo, and tonada songs made famous by legendary artists like Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Mercedes Sosa, Violeta Parra, and Simón Díaz to contemporary anthems.

---

Jeremy Denk joins cellist Steven Isserlis in the 92nd Street Y's Kaufmann Concert Hall in New York City to perform two works by Mendelssohn: Variations Concertantes for Cello and Piano, Op.17, and Cello Sonata No. 2 in D Major, Op. 58. Also on the program, Isserlis performs selections from Bach's Unaccompanied Cello Suites and Edoardo Ballerini reads from Isserlis's book on the works. Tickets are also available to watch the event online.

---

Richard Goode performs works by Bartók, Beethoven, Schubert, and Schumann at Wigmore Hall in London on Saturday, as the country celebrates Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years as monarch, this weekend.

---

Lake Street Dive has three shows with special guests The Lone Bellow this weekend: a concert at Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia tonight and two sold-out nights at The Green at Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, VT, on Saturday and Sunday.

---

The Magnetic Fields, who kicked off their European tour earlier this week, bring songs from their latest album, Quickies, and more to Egeskov in Funen, Denmark, on Saturday for the Heartland Festival.

---

Colin Currie Group performs an all-Steve Reich program at Kings Place in London on Saturday: Clapping Music, Quartet, Drumming [Part 1], Piano Phase, and Six Marimbas.

---

Cécile McLorin Salvant performs at Symphony Center in Chicago tonight. She is joined by musicians from her recent Nonesuch debut album, Ghost Song—flautist Alexa Tarantino, pianist Sullivan Fortner, guitarist Marvin Sewell, and percussionist Keita Ogawa—as well as bassist Yasushi Nakamura.

---

Molly Tuttle, who is hosting a weekly show on the online country radio platform Gimme Country starting this afternoon, is joined by her band Golden Highway for a set at Brevard Music Center in Brevard, NC, on Saturday night as part of the North Carolina Guitar Celebration.
