Joshua Redman, who is currently touring Europe as the special guest of The Bad Plus, is set to make his Irish debut when the Joshua Redman Trio, featuring Reuben Rogers and Gregory Hutchinson, tours Ireland this September. The autumn also marks the start of the Wigmore Hall Jazz Series curated by Redman, who succeeds Brad Mehldau as the Hall’s Jazz Series curator. Tickets for the Trio tour and Wigmore series are on sale now.

Rokia Traoré Launches Three-Show Series in London with "Exquisite, Cool, Clear Vocals" (Guardian)

Rokia Traoré is in London for the first of two major projects she will unveil there this summer. This week, she presents a series of three shows produced by the Barbican based on aspects integral to Malian music and its traditions: Donguili – Donke – Damou (Sing – Dance – Dream). The Guardian gives four stars to Monday's show, citing "Traoré's exquisite, cool, clear vocals," and says "she proved to be as compelling a storyteller as she is singer." In July, she returns to the Barbican for the UK premiere of Desdemona, a collaboration with Toni Morrison and Peter Sellars.

Dr. John to Play Free Show in New Orleans for NCAA Big Dance Concert Series

With March Madness heading into the final stretch, Dr. John will play a free set in New Orleans' Woldenberg Park this Sunday as part of the NCAA Big Dance Concert Series. Dan Auerbach, the producer of his new album, Locked Down, plays on Saturday with The Black Keys. Both Dr. John and Auerbach will premiere music from the album at BAM the following weekend as part of Dr. John's three-week BAM residency, which begins tomorrow. Dr. John will be featured on BBC Radio 4's Front Row tonight.

Steve Reich to Lead Sydney Opera House Residency in April, Inaugurating New Series

Steve Reich will make a rare visit to Australia this April for the launch of a new series at the Sydney Opera House called The Composers. From April 26 to 29, the House will stage The Composers: Steve Reich in Residence, featuring a workshop with students from the Flagship Sydney Youth Orchestras, a conversation at Sydney Opera House, and a culminating performance by Synergy Percussion, eighth blackbird, and others.

Björk Discusses "Biophilia" NYC Residency's Education Series with Wall Street Journal

Björk is set to bring her live Biophilia show to NYC for a ten-night residency starting next week, including performances at the New York Hall of Science in Queens and at Roseland in Manhattan. In addition, Björk is collaborating with the Hall of Science on a three-week-long Biophilia education series featuring interactive science and music workshops for school children in Corona and Flushing, Queens. The program is featured in the Wall Street Journal, whom Björk tells: “The whole idea is to take music education out of a bookish, academic thing and into a more physical, tactile experience."

Björk Brings Biophilia Live Show, Education Series to NYC in Partnership with The Creators Project and New York Hall of Science

In partnership with The Creators Project and the New York Hall of Science, Björk is set to bring her live Biophilia show to New York City for a special ten-night residency. Six performances will take place in February at the New York Hall of Science, New York City’s only hands-on science and technology museum, followed by four performances in the round at Roseland Ballroom. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 13 at 10 AM ET. In addition to the live performances, Björk will collaborate with the New York Hall of Science on a three-week-long Biophilia education series.

The line-up for the 2012 American Songbook series from Lincoln Center has been announced, and among the artists performing are mandolinist Chris Thile and guitarist Michael Daves. The duo will perform songs from their debut album, Sleep with One Eye Open, at The Allen Room in Frederick P. Rose Hall, overlooking New York's Central Park, on Thursday, January 12. Tickets are go on sale to the general public on November 14. Friends of Lincoln Center will be given early access on November 3.

Irish composer Donnacha Dennehy, whose Nonesuch debut album, Grá agus Bás, was released earlier this year, is in Chicago for the performance of his 2002 piece To Herbert Brun. Musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Cliff Colnot, kick off the 2011/12 season of the CSO's MusicNOW new-music series with tonight's concert, held at the Harris Theater. Dennehy's piece features guest soprano Carrie Henneman Shaw. The program also include works by John Corigliano, Kirsten Broberg, Alejandro Viñao, and Paula Matthusen.

Music and culture website Pitchfork.com launched 15 years ago this summer, in 1996, and in honor of this anniversary, the site is taking a look at artists "who've left a mark on the musical landscape over the past 15 years"; Björk was chosen for the first feature in the series. Writer Brandon Stosuy talks to the artist about her career and her work since 1996 through her upcoming album, Biophilia. As the release of Biophilia draws closer, Björk's "Crystalline Series"—four 12" vinyl imports from the UK featuring variations on music from Biophilia—have been made available. The series includes remixes from Grammy-winning engineer Serban Ghenea, British electronic artist Matthew Herbert (who previously collaborated with Björk on her album Vespertine), and musician Omar Souleyman.

Björk continues to unveil Biophilia with today’s premiere of the music video for the song "Crystalline" from groundbreaking director and longtime Björk collaborator Michel Gondry. Watch it here. Also available today in the Nonesuch Store is the first of four 12" vinyl releases, all part of The Crystalline Series featuring variations on music from Biophilia by Serban Ghenea, Matthew Herbert, and Omar Souleyman. All five physical versions of the Biophilia album are available to pre-order in the Nonesuch Store, including the custom-made Biophilia Manual and Ultimate Edition.
