Record Store Day Releases to Come from The Black Keys, Bombino, Iron and Wine, Punch Brothers April 20

Record Store Day, the annual celebration of independent record stores, is set to take place on Saturday, April 20, and included among the special limited-edition releases on that day are recordings from a number of artists familiar to readers of the Nonesuch Journal: The Black Keys, Bombino, Iron and Wine, and Punch Brothers.

The Black Keys are featured in this year's "Side by Side" vinyl series, a Warner Bros. Records series of limited-edition 7" vinyl singles on which artists cover other historic and personally influential iconic artists. On one side of this split single is The Stooges 1969 classic track "No Fun," with The Black Keys' updated 2002 take on the flip side.

Bombino, whose Nonesuch debut album, Nomad, due April 2 (now available to pre-order), was produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, releases a 10" vinyl single of the album track "Azamane Tiliade" and an exclusive non-album B-side, “Si Chilan,” for Record Store Day. Auerbach helmed the recording at his Nashville studio, Easy Eye Sound. The 10" was mastered at Bernie Grundman Studios and pressed by Pirates Press.

Iron and Wine makes its Nonesuch Records debut with Ghost on Ghost in the US on April 16. Ghost on Ghost is the fifth release from singer-songwriter Sam Beam, using the pen name Iron and Wine. The album, now available to pre-order, was produced by Beam's longtime associate Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Califone, Fruit Bats). On Record Store Day, Iron and Wine releases a special 7" including two exclusive tracks unavailable anywhere else. The 7" was cut by Bernie Grundman Studios and pressed at Pallas MFG in Diepholz, Germany.

Nonesuch Records released Punch Brothers' five-song EP Ahoy! digitally and on CD last November. Now on vinyl for the first time, the EP has been pressed on 10" vinyl for Record Store Day and includes songs by Josh Ritter ("Another New World"), Gillian Welch and David Rawlings ("Down Along the Dixie Line"), Punch Brothers ("Squirrel of Possibility"), and Mclusky ("Icarus Smicarus"), along with one traditional tune, arranged by Punch Brothers ("Moonshiner"). Originally recorded during the Nashville sessions for their critically acclaimed 2012 album Who's Feeling Young Now?, these tracks also were produced by Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse). The vinyl EP was cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Studios and pressed at Pallas MFG.

Record Store Day, now in its sixth year, celebrates the unique culture surrounding over 1,000 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally. Record Store Day 2013: The Black Keys, Bombino, Iron and Wine, Punch Brothers

What happened to the Punch Brothers Ahoy EP on Vinyl for Record Store Day? It isn't on the official list and no stores have been solicited for it? Is it cancelled/delayed?

Ahoy! vinyl is still on tap for that for that week. In fact, look for it a few days early, as it's due out on Tuesday, April 16!

My grandfather has some vinyl records and I have checked them sometime. And I have found 1 or 2 of the names that has been mentioned here. And I am wondering about who in the world is still buying these vinyl records?
