Mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile, whose new album, Bach: Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 2, is out November 7, stopped by for the Nonesuch Selects video series, in which artists visit the Nonesuch office, pick some of their favorite albums from the music library, and share a few words on their choices. He chose recordings by Wilco; Randy Newman; Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, and Brian Blade; Cécile McLorin Salvant; Gabriel Kahane; and Punch Brothers.

Chris Thile has shared his performance of Bach's Partita No. 3 in E major, BWV 1006: III. Gavotte en rondeau, from his upcoming album, Bach: Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 2, and a video of him performing it in NYC's Tompkins Square Park, directed by Matthew Edginton.

Chris Thile's Bach: Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 2—on which he performs Bach's Partita No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1004; Sonata No. 3 in C major, BWV 1005; and Partita No. 3 in E major, BWV 1006—is due November 7. Brad Mehldau released "Colorbars," featuring Chris Thile, from his album Ride into the Sun , and a performance video made during its recording at Bunker Studio in Brooklyn, along with guitarist Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear, bassist Felix Moseholm, and drummer Matt Chamberlain.

Chris Thile performs "God Is Alive Magic Is Afoot," based on Buffy Sainte-Marie’s adaptation of a Leonard Cohen poem, from his 2021 album, Laysongs. Filmed by Josh Goleman during the recording of the album at Future-Past Studio, a converted church in upstate New York.
