Adam Guettel's "The Light in the Piazza" Opens in Atlanta

Composer Adam Guettel's 2005 musical The Light in the Piazza begins previews at the Balzer Theater in Atlanta tonight with Opening Night this Saturday, April 16. Presented by Theatrical Outfit and directed by Richard Garner, the production stars Christy Baggett (Margaret), Tim Quartier (Fabrizio), and Devon Hales (Clara) and runs through May 15. For details and tickets, visit theatricaloutfit.org.

Guettel wrote the music and lyrics and Craig Lucas wrote the book for The Light in the Piazza, which began its Broadway run at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater in 2005. The acclaimed trio Mountain Man's first album in eight years, Magic Ship, is out now. The record includes eleven originals plus interpretations of songs by Ted Lucas and Michael Hurley, and a traditional hymn—"intimate, close-harmony songs that tap into an ageless essence of traditional ballads and lullabies as they contemplate companionship, family, love and death," says the New York Times. Nonesuch Store CD and vinyl orders include an exclusive signed print while supplies last; bundle options include an exclusive tote bag. The trio will be at Rough Trade in Brooklyn on September 24 and will tour the US this fall.
