    Chris Thile and Michael Daves Unveil New Website

    Chris Thile and Michael Daves' upcoming release, Sleep with One Eye Open, is still three weeks away, but you can learn more about the album now at the newly launched thiledaves.com. This debut from mandolin virtuoso Thile and guitar-maven Daves was recorded live to tape in at Jack White’s Third Man studio in Nashville and features 16 traditional bluegrass tunes by legends like The Monroe Brothers, The Louvin Brothers, Jimmy Martin, and Flatt & Scruggs.

    Anyone who pre-orders Sleep with One Eye Open here at nonesuch.com and at thiledaves.com will get an autographed CD and also be entered to win a solid spruce-top Martin 000X1AE acoustic guitar.

    The new site features tour and album info, as well as two videos: a discussion between Thile and Daves about Sleep with One Eye Open, and a live performance of the title track. You can also watch the videos below, or at nonesuch.com/media.

    Thomas Bartlett and Nico Muhly's Peter Pears: Balinese Ceremonial Music is out now. The album is nine songs written by the duo plus three gamelan transcriptions by ethnomusicologist Colin McPhee that inspired the songs. Bartlett and Muhly play pianos and keyboards on the album, and Bartlett sings, joined by others on strings and metallic pitched percussion. Bartlett and Muhly perform from Peter Pears at LPR in NYC on May 24, National Concert Hall in Dublin on June 6, and LSO St Luke's in London on June 8.
