Bach Trios, an album of Bach works recorded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, mandolinist Chris Thile, and bassist Edgar Meyer, is now available in a two-LP vinyl edition, following its recent release on CD and digitally. The Times (UK) calls it "irresistible." The Observer says the musicians are "in perfect harmony." Herald Scotland exclaims: "A new classic ...Truly, virtuosity is its own reward." The trio begins a nine-city US tour at Boston's Symphony Hall tonight.

The Celebrity Series of Boston has announced its 2017–2018 concert season, and among the artists performing through the acclaimed series at venues in and around Boston next season are four Nonesuch artists: Chris Thile, Jeremy Denk, Audra McDonald, and Joshua Redman. The album comprises works by J.S. Bach originally written for keyboard instruments, plus one sonata for viola da gamba. In 2011, Ma, Thile, and Meyer—along with Stuart Duncan—collaborated on The Goat Rodeo Sessions, which won two Grammy Awards. The Times of London calls Bach Trios "effervescent" and "irresistible." The trio performs in nine cities across the US beginning April 21.

Chris Thile launches a ten-city solo tour of Europe at Alhambra in Paris tonight. The tour features songs from throughout his catalog—self-penned songs, traditional tunes, favorite covers, and works by Bach—and includes stops in Amsterdam, Edinburgh, London, Hamburg, Vienna, and more.

Chris Thile, the host of A Prairie Home Companion, welcomed label mate Brad Mehldau to the show as a special guest this past weekend. They performed two songs from their debut duo album: Mehldau's tune "The Watcher" and the David Rawlings / Gillian Welch song "Scarlet Town." You can watch their performance of the latter here. Chris Thile and Brad Mehldau were the guests on NPR's World Cafe. They spoke with host David Dye and performed three songs from their just-released debut duo album together: Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright," David Rawling and Gillian Welch's "Scarlet Town," and Elliott Smith's "Independence Day." "It is extraordinary," says host Dye of the new album. "Two players from different genres, bluegrass and jazz, further the thinking that genres are just not that important to improvisers." Chris Thile & Brad Mehldau, the debut duo album from the Nonesuch labelmates, is out now. At the end of 2015, the longtime admirers of each other's work played a two-night stand at NYC's Bowery Ballroom (videos from which you can watch here) before going into the studio to record the double album. "This meeting of two masters of their respective realms is a spine-tingling triumph," raves a five-star Irish Times review. The Guardian gives the album four stars, saying: "Two very different musicians hit a remarkable rapport on this double album."
