This guy is up in my list list with Brian Wilson and those Beatles boys, I only feel that his career has crossed more boundaries. The chance to see Randy the Man would be once in a lifetime and make me "as happy as a monkey in a monkey tree"
Great job Nonesuch - I've been listening to your records for as long as I can remember...vinyl ones...like the Bach Concertos for 4 Harpsichordists....
Never realized when I was a wee lass that "Mama Told Me Not to Come" was a Randy composition - been hooked ever since I found out!
I've been stressing over tickets for months....seriously! I've lived abroad for the past 20 years and have missed my share of shows in my old hometown of Austin, but now there are only a handful of performers I'd like to see live. Of course, Randy Newman tops that list, but his tour schedule is limited, to say the least. So, it's win the lottery or never see one of my music idols as I'll be leaving the US again early next year. I would splurge for the ACL festival if I was sure that Mr Newman would be playing a full set, but I don't think that's the case.
Anyway, PLEASE pick me....if not, I'll be outside the Moody Theater hoping for a "miracle!"
I saw Randy 25 years ago at an outdoor show near Baton Rouge. His music brings back some great memories from that time in my life.
