Jerusalem Post: Laurie Anderson's Homeland "An Exceptional Show"

Laurie Anderson

Laurie Anderson's European tour with her latest performance piece, Homeland, comes to a close this week with the last of four concerts in Italy this Wednesday. Between the Italian tour and earlier events in Netherlands, Laurie brought the show to Israel, where she and her band, with special guest Lou Reed, played two shows in Tel Aviv last week at Mann Auditorium, November 3 and 4.

The Jerusalem Post's Jonathan Goldstein calls the performances "a fitting election day treat." He explains: "As Americans voted for a new direction in their country, Tel Aviv celebrated with the ever-political art of Laurie Anderson."

Goldstein describes Laurie's pieces as "all-encompassing experiences" and Monday's Homeland show in particular a "thought-provoking performance." The addition of Lou Reed to the lineup, he writes, brought the focus "on the aesthetics of the music" in a manner that "charmingly combined her artistic style with his rock."

In the end, says Goldstein, it was "an exceptional show that ranged from the finest in performance art to a classic rock experience."
