Jessica Lea Mayfield Announces Summer Tour with The Avett Brothers

Jessica Lea Mayfield main by Michael Wilson Tell Me, the highly anticipated sophomore release from Jessica Lea Mayfield, is out now on Nonesuch Records. Produced by The Black KeysDan Auerbach, the album was described by Rolling Stone, which named her an “Artist to Watch,” as “a disarming collision of stark country balladry, dynamic alternative rock and arty electronic pop,” while the Associated Press says, “Tell Me is the portrait of a precocious girl growing into self-assured womanhood and a producer reaching the peak of his powers. It is a dark and moody album, full of delights throughout, and if it doesn’t make Mayfield a star, that too will be heartbreaking.” Moreover, SPIN magazine included Mayfield in their March feature “The Next Big Things: 11 Artists You Must Hear in 2011,” calling her a “smart-ass country-rock ingénue.”

In celebration of the record, Mayfield will continue to tour throughout 2011, including an appearance at the 2011 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival as well as a newly announced series of special shows with The Avett Brothers. See below for concert dates. For more information and ticket links, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

Mayfield recently appeared at the 2011 SXSW Music Conference & Festival, performing at numerous events, including parties for fashion designer Billy Reid & American Songwriter, Rolling Stone, KCRW, KEXP, and KUT. Of her official festival showcase, SPIN praised, “With her 45-minute set at St. David’s, this 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Kent, Ohio, proved she has what it takes to be your favorite new artist ... she’s tweaked tender country-rock ballads into a universally irresistible medium.” A 10-song live EP recorded at the festival, iTunes Live: SXSW, is now available exclusively at the iTunes store.

And head to the Nonesuch Store for a special bundle of Tell Me with the vinyl 7" single of "Our Hearts Are Wrong," signed by Mayfield.
