Devendra Banhart has released "It's Not Always Funny," the third track from his upcoming four-song EP, Vast Ovoid, due as a limited-edition 12” colored vinyl 45 on July 24. You can hear the track below and download it now when you pre-order the EP, along with the previously released tracks, "Let's See" and "Love Song (Helado Negro Remix)." The EP is a follow-up to Banhart’s latest studio album, Ma, which was released to critical acclaim in September 2019 and includes the original version of "Love Song."

"While writing this song I was thinking about over-consumption, a kind that goes beyond objects, and starts to pig out on emotions … it's never kindness or joy is it?" Banhart says.

"I was thinking about the touch of your eyes ... and now that eyes have become our faces, I find going to the supermarket the most intimate experience ... since the lockdown we have been hyper developing the language of looking into each others' eyes ...

"I was thinking about how they say it’s important to laugh, especially when there's nothing to laugh about, I'm not sure if that’s true but it stuck with me."

    Caroline Shaw and Sō Percussion have released "To Music," a new track from their upcoming album, Rectangles and Circumstance, due June 14 on Nonesuch. You can watch the video, directed by Robert Edridge-Waks with photography by Daniel Kukla, here. Shaw and Sō co-wrote and performed the ten songs on the album, which they co-produced with Grammy-winning engineer Jonathan Low (The National, Taylor Swift).
