Nickel Creek's Newport Folk Festival Set Streaming at NPR Music
Nickel Creek performed at the famed Newport Folk Festival over the weekend, and NPR Music was there to capture the set, which is now streaming in full. The band's new album, A Dotted Line, "naturally reflects its members' creatively ambitious recent pursuits," says NPR's Stephen Thompson. "As with everything the band does, it blends playful lightness with remarkable musical chops." The band heads to the West Coast for the next leg of its tour starting this weekend.

Rhiannon Giddens's new album, Freedom Highway, is due next Friday, February 24. But you don't need to wait till then to hear it: the album is streaming in full here as an NPR First Listen. It's a "rich collection, the latest chapter in the 40-year-old master folklorist, banjo virtuoso and vocal powerhouse's epic retelling of our history with its sins and sorrows—and joy born of resilience—fully reinstated," says NPR. "[H]ope comes back to life in Giddens' music."Journal Topics: Artist News
