The world premiere of Coraline, a new musical with music and lyrics by Stephin Merritt, is set to open a year from now as the closing work in the 2008-09 season of the MCC Theater at the Lucille Lortel Theater in New York's Greenwich Village. Based on the terrifying children's book by Neil Gaiman, the piece features a book by David Greenspan, whom Tony Kushner has called "probably all-around the most talented theater artist" of his generation, and who stars as the title character's villainous "Other Mother." Also part of the Theater's upcoming season are the world premiere of Neil LaBute's The Break of Noon and Michael Weller's Fifty Words.
