Last week came word that The Black Keys would be touring with Kings of Leon for a dozen dates this September. Of course, 12 shows aren't nearly enough, so the Nonesuch Journal is happy to report that, following the May 18 release of the band's new album, Brothers, the band will tour extensively through the summer and fall, having added several additional dates—beginning July 24 in Cleveland—which include headlining shows with The Morning Benders, The Whigs, and Nicole Atkins, and a performance with The Flaming Lips in Canandaigua, New York. Below are the currently scheduled North American tour dates; for more information, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

In conjunction with the new tour dates, fans may now pre-order a limited-edition collectible hardbound book/deluxe edition of Brothers, available online only via the band’s website, theblackkeys.com. The 56-page hardbound book includes never-before-seen live photos, intimate backstage and studio shots of the band, and the full Brothers album on CD. The deluxe package also includes MP3s of the new songs “Tighten Up” and “Next Girl” delivered to fans instantly and a digital download of the full album on May 18. An exclusive 9 ¾” x 6 ½” lithograph of The Black Keys will also be included, with a limited number signed by the band.

Brothers is also available here in the Nonesuch Store on CD and vinyl, as is the 12" vinyl single of the album tracks "Tighten Up" and "Howlin' for You."

One half of The Black Keys, drummer Patrick Carney, spoke with Billboard magazine about the upcoming record and what he and band mate Dan Auerbach took from recent projects they had taken on, both together (Blakroc) and apart. "The most important thing we learned was how easily we communicate with each other," says Carney. "I think it's much easier for Dan and I to play with each other than it is for us to work with other people, but we really just started to appreciate it recently." You can read the interview at reuters.com.

And, of course, not to be left out if Frank the Puppet Dinosaur, who recently followed his star turn in the "Tighten Up" video with one for "Next Girl," now corrupting young minds the world over on The Black Keys' YouTube page.
