Luminato Line-Up Includes Free Sets from Bombino, Amadou & Mariam, Laurie Anderson, Carolina Chocolate Drops
The line-up for the 2013 Luminato Festival in Toronto has been announced, and included among this year’s performers are Bombino, Amadou & Mariam, Laurie Anderson, and Carolina Chocolate Drops. All of these artists will give free concerts in David Pecaut Square at the Hub of the Festival, which runs from June 14 to 23. Among the Luminato Festival’s other highlights will be a multi-artist, two-night tribute to Joni Mitchell at Massey Hall.

Kronos Quartet, Laurie Anderson Launch Tours of Australia
Kronos Quartet launches a two-week tour of Australia and New Zealand at the Perth Festival, joined by Laurie Anderson for the Australian premiere of Landfall, a new work by Anderson. They perform the piece at the Adelaide Festival this Saturday. The Kronos tour includes additional performances at the Perth and Adelaide festivals and a show in Melbourne, as well as a four-city New Zealand tour. Laurie Anderson performs her piece Dirtday! at the Adelaide Festival before heading to Paris, where she will be the focus of a Domaine Privé at Cité de la Musique next week.

This limited-edition 12" vinyl single, features the Homeland album track "Only an Expert"—which Q calls "a bitingly satirical, genuinely funny, quietly angry and surprisingly danceable dissection on the very notion of subservience to expertise"—with the non-album track "Pictures and Things," featuring Antony Hegarty, on the flip side.
