In the spring of 2004, Caetano Veloso curated a week of special concerts at New York’s Carnegie Hall as one of its prestigious Perspectives artists. He invited his longtime friend and collaborator David Byrne to join him for an evening. The concert was recorded for broadcast on NPR and now will be released by Nonesuch as Caetano Veloso and David Byrne: Live at Carnegie Hall on March 13. The singer/guitarists each performed an acoustic set of their own songs and also performed together. Caetano Veloso and David Byrne: Live at Carnegie Hall is available now for pre-order in the Nonesuch Store.

It was 25 years ago this fall that Caetano Veloso's self-titled album was released in the US on Nonesuch Records. That acoustic guitar set launched a relationship that has since brought more than a dozen unforgettable albums, most recently last year's zii e zie, of which the Times of London declared: "The Brazilian master remains in a league of his own." Now, Veloso's Nonesuch catalog is available digitally, in the Nonesuch Store and on iTunes and Amazon. Veloso is Guest Director of the 2011 Telluride Film Festival, which will be held over Labor Day weekend.

Caetano Veloso's new Nonesuch release, zii e zie, is the latest Staff Pick from the PRI show Studio 360. "Veloso continues to make music with the grace of a poet and the ebullience of a kid," says Studio 360, which praises the "sharp edges" added to his new work while insisting that "the jagged rock and funk flair never buries Veloso’s deep roots in samba and bossa nova." The Washington Post has published an interview with Veloso on subjects from Animal Collective to David Byrne to Michael Jackson.
