Devendra Banhart curated a series of workshops for children aged four to ten, titled Imaginary Universes, for Fondazione Prada's Accademia dei bambini in Milan in 2018. Now, the foundation has made the first workshop, led by Banhart and titled "The Astonishing Adventures of a Celestial Archaeologist," available online, via a video by Maicol Casale, as a resource for parents, teachers, and caregivers. It is part of the foundation's Accademia Aperta initiative to share materials during its temporary closure and the wider coronavirus quarantine. You can watch it below, along with the animated film shown at the workshop by Matteo Toffalori, set to the song "Celebration," from Banhart's 2016 album Ape in Pink Marble.

"The new video series published once per week documents the work of the 'masters,' the evolution of the spaces, the dialogues between generations and the collective events," says Fondazione Prada. "Creating this visual repertoire is a playful and entertaining occasion to reimagine the role of these personalities eager not only to teach, but also to learn and transmit curiosity, emotions, and suggestions."

"The children, guided by his voice and the notes of his guitar, climbed aboard an imaginary spaceship to cross the galaxies," the foundation explains. "During their personal space odyssey, they discovered a mysterious planet, very different from the earth, populated by strange animals and plants never seen before. Back on earth, every young 'celestial archaeologist' transformed a simple transparent balloon into a fantastic planet to relive his adventurous space mission."
