Randy Newman continues his US tour with two stops in the Midwest this weekend. Last weekend, Newman received a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for the film Toy Story 3. He's been nominated for an Academy Award for the song "We Belong Together" from the film and will perform it at the Oscars next weekend. Newman recently spoke about his scoring and songwriting on PBS's Tavis Smiley, which you can watch here.

Randy Newman continues his tour of the United States with two stops in the Midwest this weekend: at Miami University in Middletown, Ohio, on Saturday, which Cincinnati CityBeat calls "a rare treat," and at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis on Monday, President's Day. Given that Newman has never shied from including a political song or two in his repertoire, it seems like a good way to spend the holiday weekend.

This past weekend, Newman received a Grammy Award (his fifth) for Best Score Soundtrack for the Pixar film Toy Story 3. He's been nominated for an Academy Award for the song "We Belong Together" from the film and will perform it at the Oscars, which will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on Sunday, February 27, starting at 8 PM EST. For more information, visit oscar.com.

Newman appeared on the Tavis Smiley show on PBS last week, just prior to his Grammy win, and spoke about the Oscar nomination (his twentieth), writing for the screen, and being so inextricably linked with his hometown of Los Angeles, thanks to his song "I Love L.A." You can watch the episode here:
