Robert Plant was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night. He joined his host for a chat and a performance of the classic doo-wop tune "Duke of Earl." Plant then joined his band The Sensational Space Shifters for a performance of "Rainbow" and "Turn It Up" (a web exclusive), off the new album lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar. Watch all three performances here. Plant's North American fall tour launch in Port Chester, NY, was a "shrewdly rollicking concert," says the New York Times, mixing songs from the new album and Led Zeppelin favorites. The tour continues with performances at BAM tonight and Sunday for Nonesuch Records at BAM; watch a live stream of Sunday's show via NPR Music.

Robert Plant was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night on NBC. He joined his host for a conversation about his new album, lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar, during which the two took time out to perform some doo wop: Fallon set out his iPad to loop their vocals together on the Gene Chandler tune "Duke of Earl." Plant then joined his band The Sensational Space Shifters for an on-air performance of the new album's first single, "Rainbow," plus a web-exclusive performance of the album track "Turn It Up." You can watch all three performances below.

Plant and the band kicked off their North American fall tour at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, New York, on Thursday night. In the New York Times review, titled Seeking Out the New, Still Rocking His Past, music critic Nate Chinen calls it a "shrewdly rollicking concert" that mixed songs from the new album and some Led Zeppelin favorites.

"For much of the last 35 years — roughly since the end of Led Zeppelin — his musical pursuits have suggested the pull of curiosity, along with a determination to remake and be remade," writes Chinen. Read the review at nytimes.com.

The tour continues with performances at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) tonight and Sunday night as the culminating concerts of the Nonesuch Records at BAM celebration of the label's 50th reunion, with opening sets from label mate Olivia Chaney. Fans around the world can watch Plant's set Sunday night as NPR Music presents a live web stream of the event; tune in at 9pm ET to watch at npr.org/music.

To pick up a copy of lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar, which Q calls “best solo album yet … a beautifully moving, soul-stirring, bravely genre-blurring album" and American Songwriter calls a “stunning entry into his already impressive catalog,” head to iTunes, Amazon, or the Nonesuch Store, where CD and vinyl orders include a free MP3 download of the complete album at checkout.

The Library of Congress has acquired the collection of manuscripts, instruments, costumes, video and audio recordings, and more from Kronos Quartet and its non-profit organization, Kronos Performing Arts Association. “It’s gratifying to know that Kronos’ legacy will be preserved in perpetuity alongside the manuscripts and other treasures of so many other influential musicians from the US and around the world," said KPAA Executive Director Janet Cowperthwaite. "We are perhaps even more excited to reflect upon all the musicians and scholars who will have access to these materials in years to come, informing their own work and carrying Kronos’ inspiration and influence into the future.” The Library also appointed Kronos founder, artistic director, and violinist David Harrington as the Kluge Chair in Modern Culture and inducted Kronos’ 1992 album Pieces of Africa into the National Recording Registry.
