Audra McDonald, a six-time Tony Award winner, now shares an Emmy Award as host of Live From Lincoln Center's telecast of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The show has won the Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Program. As the official host of the PBS series, McDonald shares the award with the show’s producers. She has served as the official host of Live From Lincoln Center since 2012. This marks her fourth Emmy nomination and her first win.

Audra McDonald, a six-time Tony Award winner, now shares an Emmy Award as host of Live From Lincoln Center's telecast of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Starring Emma Thompson as Mrs. Lovett and Bryn Terfel as the title character, Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd aired nationally on PBS on September 26, 2014. The production was directed by Lonny Price and featured the New York Philharmonic under the baton of Alan Gilbert. (Nonesuch Records has released two recordings of Sweeney Todd: the 2007 film soundtrack and the 2006 Broadway cast recording.) McDonald has served as the official host of Live From Lincoln Center since 2012. This marks her fourth Emmy nomination and her first win.

Audra McDonald’s fifth solo album, Go Back Home, was released on Nonesuch Records in 2013, and followed her previously released albums Build a Bridge (2006), Happy Songs (2002), How Glory Goes (2000), and Way Back to Paradise (1998).

    The Library of Congress has acquired the collection of manuscripts, instruments, costumes, video and audio recordings, and more from Kronos Quartet and its non-profit organization, Kronos Performing Arts Association. “It’s gratifying to know that Kronos’ legacy will be preserved in perpetuity alongside the manuscripts and other treasures of so many other influential musicians from the US and around the world," said KPAA Executive Director Janet Cowperthwaite. "We are perhaps even more excited to reflect upon all the musicians and scholars who will have access to these materials in years to come, informing their own work and carrying Kronos’ inspiration and influence into the future.” The Library also appointed Kronos founder, artistic director, and violinist David Harrington as the Kluge Chair in Modern Culture and inducted Kronos’ 1992 album Pieces of Africa into the National Recording Registry.

    Vagabon (aka Laetitia Tamko) will support the band Crumb on tour this October. The shows begin in California—Santa Cruz, Oakland, and Sacramento—then head to Salt Lake City and Denver and on to Texas—Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and El Paso—and Albuquerque and back to California to close out the tour in Santa Ana, San Diego, and Los Angeles.
