Caramoor, the cultural arts venue on an 80-plus-acre estate in Katonah, New York, has announced its 2022 summer season, and among those set to perform there are several Nonesuch artists: Molly Tuttle, Kronos Quartet, Dawn Upshaw, Rhiannon Giddens, Caroline Shaw, and Rachael & Vilray.

"This summer is one of the most dynamic in our history," exclaims Caramoor’s President and CEO Edward J. Lewis III. "Our incredible lineup of artists and repertoire includes voices from an array of backgrounds, eras, and lived experiences, reflecting a broad diversity of audiences from our stages."

Singer, songwriter, and musician Molly Tuttle and her new bluegrass collective Golden Highway—Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (fiddle), Dominick Leslie (mandolin), Shelby Means (bass) and Kyle Tuttle (banjo)—kick things off on Saturday, June 25, with a set of songs from their Nonesuch debut album, Crooked Tree, to close Caramoor's day-long American Roots Music Festival. The album, due April 1, features thirteen tracks, all written or co-written by Tuttle, that honor the bluegrass tradition while pushing the genre in new directions.

Kronos Quartet presents a program of works drawn from its 50 for the Future project, of which Caramoor is a commissioning partner, on Friday, July 8. Over five years, Kronos commissioned works from 50 composers from diverse backgrounds, evenly split between male and female composers, to provide a younger generation of string players with a free library of new works, helping them to master the techniques needed to perform 21st-century repertoire.

Longtime Nonesuch artist Dawn Upshaw joins the Brentano Quartet on the follow Friday, July 15, for Dido Reimagined. The program begins with early English works by Dowland, Byrd and others, plus "Dido’s Lament" from Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, followed by composer Melinda Wagner and librettist Stephanie Fleischmann’s Dido Reimagined. Upshaw, whose first Nonesuch album, Knoxville: Summer of 1915, was released in 1989, joined Sō Percussion and Gilbert Kalish in performing Caroline Shaw's Narrow Sea for its 2021 Nonesuch first recording.

Rhiannon Giddens joins the Silkroad Ensemble, of which she is Artistic Director, that Saturday, July 16, to perform its Phoenix Rising program, combining a modern re-imagining of Silkroad’s compositions and arrangements with collaborative new works arising from Giddens's own worldview and the Ensemble’s collective experience during the pandemic.

Caroline Shaw joins Angelica Negron and Rachel Acevedo Klein on Thursday, July 21 for an evening of new music created in real time, tapping into the inherent power of natural moments, gestures, sounds, and silences. This collaboration was originally conceived for Little Island in Manhattan in 2021 but was canceled due to weather. This performance is unique to Caramoor. A talkback hosted by Helga Davis will follow the performance.

Closing out the Nonesuch cohort of Caramoor's summer season are Rachael & Vilray—aka Lake Street Dive singer-songwriter Rachael Price and composer, singer, and guitarist Vilray—who perform songs from their 2019 self-titled debut album and more that Saturday, July 23. "The voices of acoustic duo Rachael & Vilray are magical enough on their own," says Chronogram, "but when they blend in song the results are utterly sublime."
