Kronos Quartet—whose 50th anniversary concert season culminates with the group's ninth annual hometown Kronos Festival at SFJAZZ in San Francisco through Sunday—has released several of its classic Nonesuch Records titles remastered in Spatial Audio on Apple Music Classical. You can hear Black Angels; Pieces of Africa; Howl, U.S.A.; Kronos Caravan; Nuevo; Terry Riley's Sun Rings; and Steve Reich's Different Trains, Triple Quartet, and WTC 9/11 in Spatial Audio on Apple Music Classical now. The Kronos Festival, which began at SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco last night, continues through Sunday, featuring the farewell performances of violinist John Sherba and violist Hank Dutt, members of Kronos for more than 45 years, as well as their longtime manager, Janet Cowperthwaite. As part of the Kronos: Five Decades celebrations, Nonesuch released the group’s award-winning 1990 album Black Angels on vinyl earlier this year; the Evening Standard included it among the “100 Definitive Classical Albums of the 20th Century.” Late last year, Nonesuch released the first-ever vinyl edition of the acclaimed 1995 album Kronos Quartet Performs Philip Glass, which the Washington Post called “an ideal combination of composer and performers.”

    Laurie Anderson with Sexmob's Let X=X is due May 8, 2026, on Nonesuch Records. This triple-LP / double-CD set was recorded live during a 2023 tour by Anderson and the jazz band Sexmob—Steven Bernstein on brass, Kenny Wollesen on drums and percussion, Douglas Wieselman on winds and guitar, Briggan Krauss on saxophone and guitar, and Tony Scherr on bass. The album features 23 songs, including many favorites from throughout Anderson’s career, performed in new arrangements—plus one by Lou Reed and Metallica, “Junior Dad.” Nonesuch Store orders include an exclusive print autographed by Laurie Anderson, while they last.
