Congratulations to Yussef Dayes, who has been nominated for two BRIT Awards: Best New Artist and Best Alternative/Rock Act. The 2024 BRIT Awards ceremony will take place at The O2 Arena in London on March 2, broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX. Dayes’ debut solo studio album, Black Classical Music, was released in September; the eight-song The Yussef Dayes Experience: Live From Malibu is out this Friday.

Congratulations to multi-instrumentalist, producer, and composer Yussef Dayes, who has been nominated for two BRIT Awards: Best New Artist and Best Alternative/Rock Act! The 2024 BRIT Awards ceremony will take place at The O2 Arena in London on Saturday, March 2, broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX. Winners of the genre awards, including Alternative/Rock, will be determined by a public vote via Instagram, held from Thursday, February 1, at noon GMT through Thursday, February 15 at 6pm.

Yussef Dayes’ debut solo studio album, Black Classical Music, was released in September on Brownswood Recordings, Warner Music, and Cashmere Thoughts Recordings and in the US on Nonesuch Records. Dayes’ drum licks and Rocco Palladino’s bass are the anchors, aided by Charlie Stacey (keys/synths), Venna (saxophone), Alexander Bourt (percussion), and a host of features including: Chronixx, Masego, Jamilah Barry, Tom Misch, Elijah Fox, Shabaka Hutchings, Miles James, Sheila Maurice Grey, Nathaniel Cross, Theon Cross, and the Chineke! Orchestra—the first professional orchestra in Europe to be made up of majority Black and ethnically diverse musicians.

This Friday, January 26, Yussef Dayes’ eight-song release The Yussef Dayes Experience: Live From Malibu features music from his critically acclaimed debut solo album, Black Classical Music, and more. Dayes is joined by his longtime collaborators Rocco Palladino, Venna, Elijah Fox, and Alexander Bourt on Live From Malibu, which was originally released as a live-performance video filmed in the Malibu mountains.

"There's no apology for where those inspirations are coming from, so whether it's directly quoting or imitating the sort of collage and then the depth of expression that can come out of the layering effect, I put all these things together because it brings me great pleasure and joy and often surprises me tremendously."
