Many a fan of the TV series Gilmore Girls, which ran from 2000 to 2007 on the WB network, got to know the music of the show's composer, Sam Phillips. Sam wrote original music throughout the series' seven-season run; the show also featured songs from her Nonesuch debut, Fan Dance, and its follow-up, A Boot and Shoe. Tune in to the Sundance Channel tonight at 9 PM to catch David Byrne on the latest episode of the show Big Ideas for a Small Planet, titled "Transport." Byrne, a longtime advocate of urban bike use, will be part of a segment focusing on efforts to make cities more bike friendly. There's also word on his collaboration with Dirty Projectors for the forthcoming edition of the Red Hot compilation album to benefit AIDS research. Also on the album are Feist, Sufjan Stevens, Grizzly Bear, Sharon Jones, The Decemberists, and The National, whose Bryce Dessner is producing the collection.

Before hitting the road again in Ottawa, Ontario, this weekend for the next leg of the Watershed tour, k.d. lang will stop by the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson tonight on CBS. Also scheduled to appear on tonight's show: actress Laura Dern. The show starts at 12:35 AM ET/PT. 

The Black Keys are in New York City today to perform on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. The band will perform "Strange Times" off their latest ablum, Attack & Release, which remains the No. 1 record on college radio for an amazing fifth straight week. Before that show hits the air, Patrick and Dan will be taking taking on fans in a joint gaming session of Grand Theft Auto IV with Xbox LIVE Gold members.

The Black Keys rocked out on the Late Show with David Letterman last night, leading Stereogum to remind readers that it "gave props to Attack & Release" even before the record's release at the beginning of the month. The site gives props this time around to the "plow through the anvil-slamming, scuzz-blues riffage of 'I Got Mine'" the band brought to the show last night. JamBase, in an interview with producer Danger Mouse, calls the album "an incredible piece of work."

The Bravo! Canada network's award-winning series Live at the Rehearsal Hall will feature k.d. lang and her band in concert performing songs from Watershed and favorites from throughout her career. The show will debut tomorrow night, April 1. Past episodes of the series have featured a broad array of artists, including Beck, Feist, Rufus Wainwright, and Philip Glass. 

The US leg of k.d. lang's Watershed tour ended earlier this week with two shows at San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts, but today offers two chances to catch k.d. on TV.
