Bombino's Nonesuch debut album, Nomad, has been named among NPR Music's 50 Favorite Albums of 2013. The Tuareg guitarist, singer, and songwriter and The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, who produced the album, "turned out to be a fabulous team," says NPR's Bob Boilen. "What you hear on Nomad is Bombino's already vigorous sound with a bit more bite." Nomad was recently named to Rolling Stone's list of the 50 Best Albums of 2013 and to Uncut's list of the Best World Music Albums.

Nomad was recently named to Rolling Stone's list of the 50 Best Albums of 2013 and to Uncut's list of the Best World Music Albums. "For this raw cross-cultural jam, Omara 'Bombino' Moctar—a hot-shit guitarist from Niger—hooked up with Black Key Dan Auerbach, who produced the LP with a crate-digging R&B/psych vibe," says Rolling Stone. "It's full of hypnotic fuzz, and the cosmic country of 'Tamiditine' conjures Workingman's Dead—if it'd been made in the Sahara desert." Read more at rollingstone.com.

To pick up a copy of Nomad, head to the Nonesuch Store, where CD and vinyl orders include a download of the complete album at checkout and are now 35% off the standard retail price (about 20% off the everyday low prices listed on the site) as part of the current Nonesuch Store anniversary sale.

Bombino and his band recently concluded their 2013 tours of Europe and North America. They head next to Australia for New Year's and performances at The Falls, Southbound, and Sydney festivals into mid-January, after which they kick off the next leg of the European tour. The Library of Congress has acquired the collection of manuscripts, instruments, costumes, video and audio recordings, and more from Kronos Quartet and its non-profit organization, Kronos Performing Arts Association. “It’s gratifying to know that Kronos’ legacy will be preserved in perpetuity alongside the manuscripts and other treasures of so many other influential musicians from the US and around the world," said KPAA Executive Director Janet Cowperthwaite. "We are perhaps even more excited to reflect upon all the musicians and scholars who will have access to these materials in years to come, informing their own work and carrying Kronos’ inspiration and influence into the future.” The Library also appointed Kronos founder, artistic director, and violinist David Harrington as the Kluge Chair in Modern Culture and inducted Kronos’ 1992 album Pieces of Africa into the National Recording Registry.
