"Boyhood" Named Best Picture by LA, Boston Film Critics; "Inherent Vice" for Best Music

Boyhood has won the LA Film Critics Award for Best Picture, Best Director for Richard Linklater, Best Actress for Patricia Arquette, and Best Editing for Sandra Adair; Jonny Greenwood's score for Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice was named Best Music Score. Boston Society of Film Critics also named Boyhood Best Picture, Best Director for Linklater, Best Editor for Adair, and Best Ensemble Cast, and awarded Inherent Vice for Best Use of Music in a Film. The New York Film Critics Online named Boyhood Best Picture, Best Director for Linklater, and Best Supporting Actress for Arquette.

Congratulations to Boyhood, which received the Los Angeles Film Critics Award for Best Picture, Best Director for Richard Linklater, Best Actress for Patricia Arquette, and Best Editing for Sandra Adair. Congratulations as well to Jonny Greenwood, whose score for Paul Thomas Anderson's film Inherent Vice was named Best Music Score in a tie with Mica Levi for Under the Skin. The winners were announced yesterday; the awards will be handed out in a ceremony in Los Angeles on January 10.

Both films were similarly lauded by the Boston Society of Film Critics this weekend as well, with Boyhood named Best Picture, Best Director for Linklater, Best Editor for Adair, and Best Ensemble Cast. The Boston critics awarded Inherent Vice for Best Use of Music in a Film.

The New York Film Critics Online added its praise for Boyhood, giving it the award for Best Picture, Best Director for Linklater, and Best Supporting Actress for Arquette.

Boyhood has previously been named among the year's best by the New York Film Critics Circle and National Board of Review, among others. The film will be available on Digital HD at iTunes and Amazon starting tomorrow, December 9. The soundtrack is available now on iTunes and in the Nonesuch Store, where the album is 15% off the everyday low price listed on the site as part of the Nonesuch Store's ongoing anniversary sale.

Inherent Vice opens in US theaters starting this Friday, December 12. The soundtrack is due out on Nonesuch next Monday, December 15, and is available to pre-order now in the Nonesuch Store.

    Caroline Shaw and Sō Percussion have released "To Music," a new track from their upcoming album, Rectangles and Circumstance, due June 14 on Nonesuch. You can watch the video, directed by Robert Edridge-Waks with photography by Daniel Kukla, here. Shaw and Sō co-wrote and performed the ten songs on the album, which they co-produced with Grammy-winning engineer Jonathan Low (The National, Taylor Swift).
