Chris Thile and Michael Daves, who recently completed a US tour following the Nonesuch release of their debut duo album, Sleep with One Eye Open, have just been added to the line-up of the 2011 Newport Folk Festival, taking place July 30 and 31 at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island. The mandolin/guitar duo will perform on Sunday the 31st. They join a varied and exciting line-up of previously announced performers, not least three fellow Nonesuch artists, all performing on Sunday: Emmylou Harris, Carolina Chocolate Drops, and Wanda Jackson. For further details and tickets, visit newportfolkfest.net.

In addition to the regular days' schedule of performers, Newport Folk Festival favorites The Low Anthem join fellow Rhode Islander John McCauley of Deer Tick in re-starting an old Newport Folk tradition: hosting some of the festival’s artists in an intimate backstage hootenanny to benefit the mission of the Newport Festivals Foundation—to maintain the Newport Folk & Jazz Festivals into perpetuity and to foster music education in New England. The event will take place Saturday night, July 30, at the park. For more information, visit newportfolkfest.net/benefit.

Thile and Daves' upcoming tour schedule also includes sets at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, and The Bell House in Brooklyn. For more information on these and other upcoming performances from Nonesuch artists, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.
