Devendra Banhart begins a European summer tour, featuring music from his new album, Ape in Pink Marble, at Columbiahalle in Berlin tonight. The tour continues with stops in Copenhagen, Milan, Brussels, Rome, Vienna, Munich, London, and more, concluding with a performance at the Bataclan in Paris on July 19. Banhart also plays festival sets in Switzerland, France, Spain, Italy, and Finland, including Noches del Botánico in Madrid, Days Off Festival in Paris, as well as the Pori Jazz Festival.

See below for all of the European tour dates; for all the latest, including select US summer sets and September South American tour dates, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

Ape in Pink Marble was released last year on Nonesuch Records. The Washington Post says the new album "feels as mysterious and inviting as a strange dream. The tempo dips to a reggae lull midway through while guitar solos delicately fill in spaces with carefully chosen notes." Q magazine and the Times of London give it four stars, and Uncut calls it "excellent," praising Banhart as an “accomplished shaper of moods and atmosphere.”

Ape in Pink Marble is available now on iTunes, Amazon, and in the Nonesuch Store and can be heard on Spotify and Apple Music.

The Library of Congress has acquired the collection of manuscripts, instruments, costumes, video and audio recordings, and more from Kronos Quartet and its non-profit organization, Kronos Performing Arts Association. “It’s gratifying to know that Kronos’ legacy will be preserved in perpetuity alongside the manuscripts and other treasures of so many other influential musicians from the US and around the world," said KPAA Executive Director Janet Cowperthwaite. "We are perhaps even more excited to reflect upon all the musicians and scholars who will have access to these materials in years to come, informing their own work and carrying Kronos’ inspiration and influence into the future.” The Library also appointed Kronos founder, artistic director, and violinist David Harrington as the Kluge Chair in Modern Culture and inducted Kronos’ 1992 album Pieces of Africa into the National Recording Registry.
