Devendra Banhart, whose new album, Ma, was released last month on Nonesuch, sets out on the road to perform songs from the new album and more. The twenty-five city North American tour—his first since 2017—begins at The Majestic Ventura Theater in Ventura, California, tonight, and includes shows in San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, Mexico City, Detroit, Toronto, Brooklyn, and more. He heads to Europe to tour in January and February. For details and tickets, see below and visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

Banhart has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every US ticket sold (excluding a festival in Austin) will go to World Central Kitchen, an organization founded by José Andrés to fight hunger around the world. With every ticket bought in Canada, $1 will go to support Rainbow Railroad to help LGBTI people around the world escape persecution and violence.

Ma is "sublimely understated, border-blurring folk rock," the Los Angeles Times. "There is a truth and authenticity to the songs via their warmth and generosity," says MOJO. "These are vignettes of lived experiences. Groovy and moving, in all the right directions." "Banhart's singular world remains as intoxicating as ever on the earthly, analogue-sounding Ma," says Q. "It feels as if all of human life is here."

To pick up a copy of Ma, head to your local record store, Amazon, iTunes, and the Nonesuch Store; the album can also be heard on Spotify and Apple Music.

The Library of Congress has acquired the collection of manuscripts, instruments, costumes, video and audio recordings, and more from Kronos Quartet and its non-profit organization, Kronos Performing Arts Association. “It’s gratifying to know that Kronos’ legacy will be preserved in perpetuity alongside the manuscripts and other treasures of so many other influential musicians from the US and around the world," said KPAA Executive Director Janet Cowperthwaite. "We are perhaps even more excited to reflect upon all the musicians and scholars who will have access to these materials in years to come, informing their own work and carrying Kronos’ inspiration and influence into the future.” The Library also appointed Kronos founder, artistic director, and violinist David Harrington as the Kluge Chair in Modern Culture and inducted Kronos’ 1992 album Pieces of Africa into the National Recording Registry.
