Gaby Moreno, whose new album with Van Dyke Parks, ¡Spangled!, is out next week, begins a six-week tour of Europe with a sold-out set at Werkhalle in Neumunster, Germany, Tuesday night for Kulturfestival Kunstflecken. The tour continues with concerts throughout Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, and Spain, culminating at La Cochera Cabaret in Malaga on November 1.

Moreno returns to the United States in November for a three-week Roots Rising! tour of the West with Liz Vice and Matt Andersen, followed by an Ecstatic Music series concert in New York City and a performance as special guest of Ben Folds and the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in December. See below for details and visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.

Moreno was on Live From Here with Chris Thile on Saturday and performed "Weeper's Lullaby," a song she co-wrote with Erica Canales and Sara Watkins. You can watch the performance here:

¡Spangled!—a collaboration between the Guatemalan-born Moreno and American musician, songwriter, arranger, and producer Parks—is a ten-song set that spans more than a century, including a bolero from Panama, a bossa nova from Brazil, a song by Moreno, Trinidadian songwriter David Rudder's "The Immigrants," and an elegiac ballad from the Southwest US: Ry Cooder, John Hiatt, and Jim Dickinson’s “Across the Borderline,” performed with Cooder and Jackson Browne.

¡Spangled! is available for pre-order now at  iTunes and the Nonesuch Store, where "Across the Borderline" and "The Immigrants" may be downloaded immediately. The album will also stream at  Spotify, Apple Music, and other digital service providers.

The Library of Congress has acquired the collection of manuscripts, instruments, costumes, video and audio recordings, and more from Kronos Quartet and its non-profit organization, Kronos Performing Arts Association. “It’s gratifying to know that Kronos’ legacy will be preserved in perpetuity alongside the manuscripts and other treasures of so many other influential musicians from the US and around the world," said KPAA Executive Director Janet Cowperthwaite. "We are perhaps even more excited to reflect upon all the musicians and scholars who will have access to these materials in years to come, informing their own work and carrying Kronos’ inspiration and influence into the future.” The Library also appointed Kronos founder, artistic director, and violinist David Harrington as the Kluge Chair in Modern Culture and inducted Kronos’ 1992 album Pieces of Africa into the National Recording Registry.
