David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's upcoming collaboration, Here Lies Love, will be released in the US on April 6. In the meantime, you can stream the album in its entirety at NPR Music's First Listen at npr.org

The album, a double-disc song cycle, explores the life of Filipino first lady Imelda Marcos and her childhood servant, Estrella Cumpas, with each song on the album's two CDs representing a different aspect of the complicated tale of Marcos's rise to power. "Part art project, part all-star indie gathering," according to a recent review in Billboard, "the 22-track tribute features a diverse mix of thoughtful ballads and disco-influenced dance numbers."; guest singers include Tori Amos, Steve Earle, Cyndi Lauper, Natalie Merchant, Kate Pierson, Santigold, and St. Vincent.

Byrne brought the album with him to Monocle magazine's weekly radio show, which was celebrating its one-year anniversary. You can listen to the program at monocle.com. Byrne's segment begins about 12 minutes in.

"Alynda Segarra is a great singer and songwriter who is also a keen observer of what's really going on out there," eTown host Nick Forster says of his guest, aka Hurray for the Riff Raff, "including struggles and oppression and injustice and drug addiction and also love and dancing and friendship and nature. It's another beautiful journey." Segarra made their debut on the show this weekend, accompanied by Johnny Wilson to perform songs from the new album The Past Is Still Alive and more, including a finale of "Midnight Special," with fellow guest Peter One. “A lot on this record is about how grief is not a punishment, it’s an act of love and it’s just another expression of love,” Hurray for the Riff Raff (aka Alynda Segarra) says of their new album, The Past Is Still Alive, on the inaugural episode of KEXP's new podcast A Deeper Listen. Host Emily Fox says: "The album's melodies are catchy, and the lyrics are so beautifully crafted. They drew me in and made time stop for a moment." You can hear their conversation here.
